The New York Giants Are One Win Away From Doing The Unthinkable

Going into the season, you'd be hard-pressed to find any analysts, pundits, and superfans that had the New York Giants anywhere near the playoffs. Some of the most bullish projections for the NY Giants in the 2022-2023 NFL season did not include them playing mid to late-January football. Nevertheless, the NY Giants are only one win away from an unreal accomplishment.

On Sunday, they take on the downward-sliding Indianapolis Colts. The Indianapolis Colts are reeling after inexplicably choking away a 33-0 lead in the second half against the Minnesota Vikings and then pulling a disappearing act against the Colts on Monday night against the Chargers.

With all due respect to the great coaching Nick Sirianni, Sean Mcdermott, and Zac Taylor have done this season, a playoff appearance by the NY Giants should make Brian Daboll a lock for NFL Coach of the Year.

There is no question that the NY Giants roster has a lot of holes in it. The Giants are on the brink of a playoff appearance. While Andrew Thomas has improved and Evan Neal has potential, the rest of the offensive line is iffy at best. The team has no true #1 receiver. Isaiah Hodgins has done many good things for the Giants since being claimed off of waivers by the Bills in November. Darius Slayton has given all that he can for his team.

If the Giants win on Sunday, they will make the postseason and would have done the unthinkable.

Under the tutelage of Brian Daboll, Daniel Jones has a career-high in passing yards and rushing yards while managing to keep his turnovers to a minimum. He has a total of 44 receptions and 710 yards for the season. However, one can't expect Slayton and Hodgins to be Justin Jefferson and Stefon Diggs. Of course, there's no way that the Giants made it this far without some reliable horses.

Saquon Barkley's resurgence has been a sight to behold. The internal pressure from Dexter Lawrence is consistent. Kaylen Thibodeaux's improvement is evident. He will be a force to be reckoned with once his awareness reaches its peak. However, the star of this show is Brian Daboll. Having seen what he has done with Josh Allen as an offensive coordinator with the Bills, we know what Brian Daboll did with an aggressive-style offense.

This roster doesn't have the players to run the type of offense Daboll wants. Despite the roster's limitations, Daboll has done one hell of a coaching job. He has gotten more out of this roster than anyone could ever imagine. If the Giants win on Sunday, they will make the postseason and would have done the unthinkable.
