What's Trending?
Popular Fitted Baseball Caps
Every once in a while a fitted baseball cap becomes so popular that it trends. We can usually detect fitted hats that are trending right away within a couple of hours but we do not always display that information to our visitors because we do not have context of why its trending. For example during Thanksgiving week of 2021 "Black Nasty" (black undervisor) fitted caps were trending. It was not a very important trend, not to our knowledge, but there was an unusual uptick in users searching for black undervisor fitteds. A few days before Cyber Monday arrived (2021) Peanut Butter & Jelly fitteds were trending. We did not know why it was trending until the day of Cyber Monday when we discovered that Hat Club was releasing a Peanut Butter & Jelly fitted hats. So without context we do not always mention which baseball cap is currently popular. Below we will reveal when a trending fitted appears on our website.
The Process: When A Fitted Hat Becomes Trending
1. Top 5 Results - We have a large amount of data coming from different resources. When a search term and traffic reach our Top 5 results (that is commonly not on our top 5) we keep an eye out for that phrase/inquery.
2. Search Increase - The second criteria (one of the most important) we use is the search percentage increase. If the Search Increase is 200 percent and higher we look at other criterias to determine whether or not its worth displaying. If the percentage is lower than 200% it does not qualify as trending. Some fitteds will reach 200% search increase but then die down after an hour. This is why the next criteria is equally important as this one.
3. Search Count - The third criteria is the actual traffic and search count we receive for a particular inquery. The number of people searching for a particular fitted hat matters. It backs up the data of search increase that this fitted is popular at the moment.
Example of A Trending Baseball Cap
So if a search inquery meets all of the criteria above you will see something similar to the below image at the headline of our website:
An example of recent trending baseball caps were Hat Club's PB&J (Peanut Butter & Jelly) fitted hats. The PB&J fitteds reached our Top 5 results, the Search Increase reached to more than 1,029 percent, and it reached more than a 300+ search count (user searches). So we displayed the above banner on our site.
