If you are like many average consumers, then fitted hats are not very expensive at all. However, if you are a hat collector or someone who purchases many fitted hats then yes it can become expensive. The average cost of fitted hats currently as of 2021 is between $38.99 - $41.99. This increased, is likely due to the high demand of people wanting to purchase fitted hats. The higher the demand is for a product the more likely the cost will rise to meet those demands. Fitted hats (specifically New Era 59FIFTY) has seen a 10x user interest within the last couple of years. The demand for fitted hats currently is at an all time high.
So in conclusion, if you are an average consumer that purchases a fitted hat every now and then to support your favorite sports team its not any more expensive than any other hat that available. On the other hand if you purchase fitted hats frequently or are a hat collector, it can be an expensive hobby. As with all collectibles you have to decide whether this hobby is something you really enjoy and can sustain.
