Klay Thompson Scolds Draymond Green With Comical Comment Amid Celebrations

When you get a fourth NBA Championship aloft in under a decade, it is easy to see why fans of the Golden State Warriors are in a good mood. Arguably the defining legacy in the league since the Chicago Bulls of the 1990s, the Dubs have managed to build a team that has been developed, grown, and formed through drafting and intelligent coaching. Steve Kerr has been the face of the development of the team, but it is the ‘Big Three’ of Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and of course Steph Curry that makes the Warriors so compelling. They changed the way the sport is played, and now they have the hardware to cement a unique legacy.

Part of what makes the Warriors so fun to watch, even for neutrals, is the camaraderie and friendship between their main stars. This isn’t a squad of mercenaries or ring chasers; it is a team that, at its very core, are genuinely friends. Throw in the growing young player around them, too, and a new era of dominance could be starting. However, with years of success comes friendship, and that friendship was on full display during the Championship celebrations.

After dismissing the Boston Celtics 4-2, the Warriors enjoyed some comical celebrations with their fanbase. Among the madness was Green, as ever, but also Thompson. Given the sniper has spent two of the last three seasons injured, his return to form and prominence in a title win is a special thing to see.

Celebrations Were in Full Swing as Thompson Slates Green

As Green took to the mic to address the adoring public, he let out a typical Green comment, saying:

I’m trying to think of the most controversial thing I could say. I don’t know what you want me to tell you. That we’re better than everybody? … I’m just gonna continue to destroy people on Twitter and Instagram stories! It’s always (expletive) everybody else. Thank you all!”

Now, given Green took a barrage of abuse from the Celtics fans, he was quite happy to walk around with an anti-Celtics shirt during the parade. However, his teammates know that Green loves to clown around, and Thompson wasn’t going to let that moment pass, telling Marc Spears of ESPN:

Real mature, Draymond. This guy has the maturity of a third-grader.

While the Celtics series was looking ropery for the Warriors, going 2-1 down to the Cs at TD Garden, the Celtics crowd spent most of the time serenading Green in a way only Bostonian fanbases can. Thompson was quick to pull the fans up for dropping expletives all night with youngsters in the audience. Seemingly, his class and desire for clean language in the public domain extend not only to the opposition but to his closest friends and teammates as well.

The Warriors will be looking to come back next year and repeat, as they try to remind the world that their two-year Finals hiatus was down to injuries and nothing else.
