Top 5 Prospects for the 2022 NBA Draft Looking To Make an Impact!
The NBA Draft 2022 is coming up on June 23rd and some of the top prospects will look to make immediate impacts on their teams during their rookie campaign. In this article we will look at the top prospects and what they can bring to the table in the NBA.
5. Jaden Ivey (Purdue SG Sophomore)
Jaden Ivey has the athleticism and size to be a star in the NBA. He is built like a prototypical shooting guard in today’s game. Think Donovan Mitchell or a little smaller Anthony Edwards when talking about his size and athletic ability. In his sophomore season he took a major leap from a role player to one of the stars on a really good Purdue team. Ivey scored and shot the ball well in his final year averaging 17.3 points per game while shooting 36% from three and should be able to immediately help any NBA team in those two areas.
4. Keegan Murray (Iowa SF/PF Sophomore)
Another player who took a massive leap in his sophomore season was Keegan Murray. He went from averaging just seven points per game as a freshman to over 23 in his final year at Iowa. Murray is built like Michael Porter Jr. and could be just as effective in the NBA scoring the ball as him. He is another player who can light up a box score and should be able to immediately bring scoring to an NBA team even though he is still fairly raw.
3. Paolo Banchero (Duke PF Freshman)
For a big man Paolo Banchero moves really well. He can face up a defender and drive to the hoop or post up and get rebounds down low. At Duke he shot just over one three per game but can knock down threes as well and should expand that part of his game at the next level. Banchero compares to Julius Randle or Chris Webber as far as his skillset and play type.
2. Jabari Smith (Auburn PF)
Jabari Smith is one of the tallest and lankiest players in the draft that allows him to get his sweet-looking jumper over defenders with ease. He is an athletic and long front court player who is relentless defensively and can knock down three pointers. From last year’s rookie class, he is similar to Evan Mobley who shares a lot of the same attributes, but Smith may be an even better shooter.
1. Chet Holmgren (Gonzaga C)
Chet Holmgren has the potential to be really good. When Kristaps Przingis came into the league he took it by storm as he was over seven feet tall, could handle the ball, block shots, and shoot threes extremely well. These are all the same things that Holmgren can do, but he might do them better than Porzingis ever could. Holmgren has the ability to be one of the best players in the entire league if he can stay healthy and get bigger and stronger.
