In 1969 branding consultant Alan Siegel found inspiration in a photograph of Jerry West playing for the Los Angeles Lakers at the time. Siegel made Jerry West the prototypical figure of the NBA's logo, a symbol that is so recognizable today.
NBA Logo Description: The official NBA logo features an inspired Jerry West white silhouette with a blue and red background. The letters NBA are displayed near the bottom in white. The colorway (red, white and blue) represents the colors of the American flag.
